I have @50k to invest, I do not need access to the money so could tie it up for 1-3 yrs to get the best rate, good advice would be appreciated.

What is your actual risk appetite?

Structured products are starting to re-appear in the market place.

A couple of Life Co's are offering capital protection with guaranteed (but capped) returns at present on a range of mixed bag investments.

Most are longer tie-ins that you indicate (5-6 years)

Am in negotiations at present with a UK big four bank to shorten terms on one of there structures to three, from five years for a fixed return of around 6%.

At the moment though they want a couple of hurdles in the performance measuring to overcome that are not acceptable.

Buy yourself an appreciating car like a Porsche 993 and enjoy a few years happy depreciation free motoring! You might even make a few ££ on it.
