Got an e-mail today from HM Customs and Revene (address was ihmrc.gov.uk) offering me a tax refund because my tax code is wrong and I have paid too much tax. All I had to do was fill in the refund form and they will get it to me in 2 or 3 weeks time. It was even signed off `Yours sincerely HM Revene and Custom` Do you think I should tell them how to spell??

It's a phising website DO NOT ENTER ANY BANKING DETAILS.

I've had a few of these recently, and reported then back HM Customs and Revenue. They have mailed back and stated that they DO NOT correspond via email.

Their return mail to me

"Thank you for notifying HM Revenue & Customs of the suspicious e-mail you have received.

Please be aware that HMR C DO NOT send e-mails that:-

notify customers of eligibility to a repayment or, request personal information or payment.

Our specialist team will look into your submission and take the necessary action. We cannot always inform you of the outcome of these investigations but each submission is acted upon.

If you have any concerns that after receiving a HMR C related scam e-mail you have disclosed personal information (such as password/user ID)
disclosed credit/debit card information reason to believe your computer has been exposed to a virus"

So
