Having a spate of anti-capitalism at the moment, encouraged by my bank's complete inability to actually get anything right.

Question for the learned; Credit Unions - seems a viceless way of putting money to one side (note I've not said saving).

What's the gig?

Return on investment is not something I'm particularly fussed about as the amount to invest/save/put aside is so low we're talking a difference of less than £50, annually, between the highest return and the lowest across the whole spectrum of products available

They are good for subprime customers who will have much more trouble nowadays getting credit from mainstream lenders, they will need to save for a number of months then can borrow at a respectable rate from the union upto £1000 or so, part of a crackdown on loansharks etc by the local authorities.

And according to my sister (who is very ill) her CU cancels all loans on death and doubles any savings is she slides off her mortal coil.
