Apologies if this is a daft question, but I'm looking to buy a car to be owned by my company (I'm self employed) to be used solely for work purposes. In order to insure it for an employee to drive (i.e. me) is it just like ringing up an insurance company normally to get a regular policy except the policy holder is the company? Or will regular insurers not provide cover for company vehicles?

TIA

If you're self employed as a sole trader, then it should simply be a case of insuring as normal, but making it clear you need cover for your business activites to be included. That's all me & OH have with our vehicles, cover for SDP & activities related to our work, including carrying stock etc.

If you're a Ltd company then I'm not certain, but I believe you'll need specific company/employee insurance rather than single person cover. In my day job we use Lorica insurance brokers - they seem to be fairly good.
