Hi,

The Inland Revenue owe me my tax return. I am yet to recieve this, after countless phone calls, letters and promises from them.

What can I do to get what I am owed from them? This is really beginning to wear low on my patience.

Thanks

Do you mean "!tax return" or "tax refund"?

Do they know they owe you some money?

If so, how did you notify them yhat you had paid too much tax?

When you say "last year", what tax year are you referrring to?

Did you ask for cash or a change in your coding?

Tax return/refund I can't remember.

I notified them by filling in a form for paying too much tax (Whatever it's called).

Hold on, you don't know what you did?

If you don't know what you did. how do you know ou are due a refund?

It's a tax refund, I checked the letter I sent them (last April!).

What type of form did you complete - a full blown self assessment tax return or a simple notification of tax overpaid?

As an aside, what is your current tax code?

My accountant normally informs me that I am due a refund and the cheque normally arrives quite quickly but this thread has reminded me that I have not seen this year's cheque. Thanks.

Anyone else still waiting?

If the tax return was submitted on line, any refunds due should come back very quickly (less than two weeks).
With on-line filing, you are bypassing all the usual HMRC bottlenecks and making the refund application directly on to the HMRC computer - which should then genetrate the refund payment automatically.

Thanks again.

I have contacted the Tax office and they had credited it to my account but as the money would be very useful at the mo' a cheque is now on it's way.
