Situation

I have two income streams (different employers).

The first stream: I earn over £15k and am PAYE and the employer collects the SLC payments.

The second stream: I earn less than £15k and am PAYE and the employer does not collect SLC payments (but does collect PAYE tax).

I was always under the assumption that any second employment had it's own £15k limit for SLC payments.

However, when filling in my SA Tax return it lumps the two together as total income and then calculates SLC payments from this aggregate figure.

This now means they want £££ from me for SLC contributions on my second income stream.

I don't mind paying (as it is paying off my loan!), but I am curious as to the rules surrounding SLC payments on second employments/income streams.

Also, now I am completely PAYE, how do I go about asking them to cease sending me requests to fill in a SA form.

Not sure about Student Loan Repayment rules to be honest.

Being on PAYE does not mean you are automatically released from the obligation to complete an SA return.

Are you a higher rate tax payer now?

Repaying your student loan, page 14 onwards.

Seems you get a £15,000 allowance for each PAYE job (like you do now) but only one allowance for all income if you're doing SA at all.

I didn't read it like that.

Thetre are many people whop pay tax under the Self Assesment system but are employees paying tax through PAYE as well.
