Looking for a current account and savings accounts

Requirements:

- Less than 9 months to transfer from a current account to an ISA
- If they offer me a credit card they must be able to deal with handling it themselves - e.g. change of address
- A head office capable of dealing with enquiries that doesn't just defer to the local branch
- Staff who don't casually lie on a consistent basis

Reasonable interest rates and a polite manner would be beneficial, but lower priority than the above items.

Thanks rotate

I take it you're leaving Lloyds TSB then?

To be honest I think HSBC are very good. The customer service and call centres are knowledgeble and you talk to someone in Britain.
They have no problem sending my statements to an Italian address or me using my debit/credit cards worldwide (as long as I tell them)

I'm reasonably happy with Abbey. Branch can do most stuff, the online banking is good, and if I need to call them it's someone in Scotland usually takes the call, not Gerpreet in North East India.

Very happy with Smile.co.uk - part of the Co-op Banking group.

I know a few people with First Direct and they're always very positive about them....

Nationwide have always been ok for me. Just opened an account with Banif here in Malta and they have been excellent so far. (that last is probably no fking use to you is it? Sorry)

these threads come up regularly and a common recommendation is first direct.

I have been with them since the early 1990s. I cannot fault them.

One to avoid is Intelligent Finance.

My Mrs insists on using them for our joint account and for somebody not that organised like me they are a complete nightmare.

I recently forgot the PIN for my debit card, and from the 1st call to getting one issued took about about a month due to their over the top security measures.

I moved to First Direct a couple of years ago and have been happy with their service. Was a barclays customer for 15 years previous.

I was with First Direct for a little less than a year... they seemed great, but they had a bizarre offer where they paid me £100 to join and £100 if I left within a year ...so I did.

Perhaps I should return to their fold. scratchchin

Over the scary 36 years I've had a bank account I have used 'em all & Nationwide stand head & shoulders above the rest. Despite travelling extensively for work & drawing cash all over the place.
