A relation of mine had a CCJ against some credit card debt. This was 20 plus years ago. They were instructed to pay £10 a month pretty much indefinitely. As time has gone buy they have always paid and sometimes paid up to 30 a month. Most of it was pretend debt anyway due to costs and letters etc.

Now it seems this debt has been sold on by TSB and suddenly my relation is getting grief from a credit recovery company threatening that unless they settle the full amount or up the payments to £35 a month then the bailiffs will be round.

I thought that a CCJ judgment on payment was binding and final? Surely my relation can argue back on this?
Any help much appreciated.

Try the Consumer Action Forums , there's a whole section on dealing with debt.
Was very helpful for me when the Halifax stung me 3x £35 for slipping into the red by about 20p once!
