fk me, I thought you were exagerating but its there on the website. I guess if they don't make a secret of it then legally they are doing nothing wrong. Morally though its awful.

Why not? If people are daft enough, good luck to them.

I thought some law had been brought in to stop companies such as these from being legal or advertising on tv etc?

Er, no.

Why?

If people sign up for this, then let them. Beats getting your knees smashed when your dealer wants paying.

Jesus christ it isnt hard.

you borrow £100 for up to 2 month you then pay back say £130 (not had a look at site for accuracy.

I wouldnt say that is too bad concidering all the admin fees etc loaded onto it.

If you borrow £100 over a year and paid back at 2000% APR then it would be rediculous, but its just a short term loan

Why wouldn't it be legal? They are being honest with the interest.

On the face of it its A ok BUT the fact is a lot of people who would use these are high risk borrowers who will struggle on a month to month basis to cover their debts and so will borrow from these people "intending" to pay back within a month or two but will be unable to do so and it will quickly spiral out of control.

Don't get me wrong the cost short term is not the end of the world but mostly the people borrowing will be long term.U fully understand risk versus return as well as overheads but these ads seem to target those who cannot afford debt.

Some would say its a good thing as it will in effect bankrupt the financially inept but i am not so sure it is.

Tonker you seem to think i am one of those who gets hit with bank charges etc all the time and would borrow from someone like these people but i am not. I have had bank charges from time to time which i was well aware i was going to get hit with and chose to ignore and as i said in another thread i also pay a monthly fee for my bank account and am happy to do so.

I can only assume you work in banking/finance as you seem to staunchly defend banks.

It also states "Finance charge will be between £10 and £14.75 per £50 borrowed", is this for real?

Bloody hell, that's a shocker!

So, if I was to borrow £50 in a moment of desperate madness, and didn't pay them back for a year, I would owe them £1178 - have I got that right?

I thought loan sharks were illegal.....

It is not the company who should be subject to slating, it is the mugs that use them.

On the Panorama programme on Barry with the hammer type sharks I was informed that there's a lot of wallies out there.

"Oooh I needed to buy Christmas presents because it appeared out of nowhere and we were paying back £2,000 a month for 7 years"

I am not exaggerating with those figures.

P.s. I get these type of adverts when I'm Googling job searching sites and suchlike.

Yes.

So you owe your dealer £50 for smack. You can't get an overdraft.

£14.75 or broken legs?

Yes but it doesnt work like that, you borrow for 2 month max, you go over the top, thats your stupid fking fault and deserve everything you are stitched up for.
