Best Current Mortgage Lender

Hi,

I'm looking to re-mortgage my current house in my own name after splitting up with my ex. I've gone back to my current lender (abbey) who are being a little bit un-flexible with regards to lending me additional money to pay the ex off; even though I will still have over 25% equity in the house.

Am I better off getting a broker or just using the fsa comparison table and finding out who is doing the best rates etc.? Are there any IFA's on here that would be willing to help or give me some pointers?

Any help/input/experience greatly appreciated.
