Bit of a silly one here but my card got scammed recently and had to be reissued by virgin money, then today i got a letter saying that the request to reissue a card has been declined due to my current financial standing and/or my past dealings with the account,

Now this is all a bit odd as my account has generally been kept in good order and so has my credit rating, infact barclays have just doubled my bloody credit limit!

Can anyone explain why this happened or is it just the credit crunch rearing its ugly head?

Thanks

Chris

oh well was going to cut the card up once it was paid anyway, ill stick with barclays,

aslong as it isnt "your credit rating has gone to st" its all good.

I've had an AMEX Platinum for 10 years. This month they removed my cash facility!!

Don't sweat it, they're just reigning in spending.

im currently on checkmyfile.com and that seems all hunky dory,

Hopefully itll be the reigning in spending,

Gotta go pay the bloody thing off now,

although one thing they did say on the phone was, that the account isnt cancelled, just theyve declined to reissue the card, and that i could as for a reissue at a later date,

Cheers anyway chaps,

Big Al.

Yep had a similar cancellation with MBNA about 5 months ago.

Had the account open for 15 years I paid off a large settlement and then 3 months later they said they are going to cancel because I hadn't used the card recently!

Fine no skin off my nose, but I will never bank with the MBNA again.

God knows how much money passed through that account over the 15 years and how much money they earned. yikes

I've had the same problem with both MBNA and Lloyds - cards taken away because I don't spend enough. I wouldn't mind but every time I pop into Lloyds they try to get me to apply for one of their cards because I don't have one

MBNA did this with my wife, just after she cleared the outstanding balance.

So I told her to ring them, and explain she cleared the balance in order to pay for our belated honeymoon with said card. New card arrived within a week.

They certainly are quick to pick up on any percieved change of circumstances or credit worthiness.

I had a late payment recorded on a seperate credit account back in the summer (annoyingly the payment was made early but the lender screwed up and marked it as late - am still trying to get credit file ammended)

Within a few weeks somebody from virgin/mbna phoned, explained they were reviewing my credit card account, referred to the late payment and asked me to explain the circumstances.
