Got 5k to do something with.....

Where shoudl i put it?

Already got 5k in premium bonds - which are returning bugger all at present - although the promise of more prizes this month may help?

ISA?

Stocks and shares ISA? - are these all the same ie one from a high street bank or one offered through an IFA?

Any other suggestions?

Depends on your risk tolerance and skill at selection
Contract for difference, spread betting can make or lose you a mint.
Not many places to get a decent return. NS and I have a 3.95% bond out.
You could drop it into an ISA.
You can also get say 6% from Zopa with a little risk, but a long lock in.

not too fussed by spreadbetting, don't have the time or skill to keep an eye on it.

not bothered by a small amount of risk but i dn't want to bung it all on red in the local casino.
