I've £10k to invest and have trawled the web looking at savings accounts and other methods of investment but cannot decide on what best to do, where to put it or what to look for. I want to get back at least what I've put in and obviously get as good a return as possible. A mint E36 M3 would be great but I want the money to put towards a house deposit next year.

Any advice would be great as I know there are some more knowledgeable folk than me out there on money issues!

Coke & Hookers, MX-5's and a 335d (mapped) is out of the question.

Lend it to me, I'll go off and buy my Porsche. Then I'll pay you back a grand a month for a year.

Moneysupermarket.com or Moneyfacts.com will do the job. Find the best 12 month fixed-rate bond you can and all sorted. Do not listen to anyone who tells you different as if you cannot afford to lose anything then cash is king.
