iii is a good site for buying and selling shares www.iii.co.uk
Lots of good opportunities around at the moment:
GKP- Gulf Keystone Petroleum- Drilling for oil in Kurdistan
VOG- Victoria Oil & Gas- Drilling for gas
UCP- Unitec Corperate Parks- Buying back their own shares to increase the value
MTA- Matra Petroleum- Drilling for oil
TRP- Tower Resources- Soon to be drilling for oil
Don't buy on my advice though.

1 week on:
GKP- Then 100p a share, now 124p Up 24%
VOG- Then 6.3p a share, now 6.5p Up 3% ish
UCP- Then 22p a share, now 22.5p Up 2.5% ish
MTA- Then 3.1p a share, now 4.5p Up 45%
TRP- Then 2.65p a share, now 2.75p Up 4.5% ish
The spread will kill off any takings on the UCP/VOG/TRP at the moment.
It seems that it's 95% luck and 5% timing.

T5SOR wasnt you recommending that someone put half of their £50k into ICX at about 12p, then recommending that they average down when they fell to 4p not long after?
I sincerely hope they didnt take your advice
Someone asked for share tips and ICX were in a very good takeover position. The takeover fell through. If they had averaged down by the way at 3.2p they hit 5p about 2 weeks later.I sincerely hope they didnt take your advice
The other 25K I tipped to go into UCP, which was 16p at the time. If they had sold at the 24p+ high in August they would have been sitting pretty on £37K+ (12K up there)

fair enough someone came asking for a tip, but its all very well saying to average down at 3.2p and then could have sold at 5 but in that situation the guy would already have put 25k into ICX and 25k into UCP, so where was the money to come from to average down?
that "little" 50k as i believe you described it, even if he had sold at UCP's peak of 24p (how would one have known to sell there?) would not be a littler 37k
im not doing this to rub it in, thats not the way to be in life, and i hope you didnt have too much in ICX. I just want to point out that shares are not a one way bet, and it bugs me that you could say how brilliantly the OP would have done had he bought the shares you mentioned
Its possible to make money on the stock market, i know that as well as anyone, but the felling that i get reading all these threads is that the market is seen as a source of easy money where its all uphill. i cant express in words just how bearish that is making me feel
hope them shares you listed go well for you, if you have seen my thread then you will know that i also have GKP and VOG, have looked at TRP and MTA in the past, not sure why i didnt buy but from the top of my head i think TRP had a decent bit of upside potential so good luck

The £50K wouldn't have been £37K, the £25K would have been £37K. At the very worst he/she would have got the initial £50K back, if he/she wasn't greedy and taken the UCP high etc. ICX fell over the day, not a direct 12p to 4p and I sold at 9p IIRC as the failed takeover news was released. If they took my advice (I hope they did some research) they got one good company and one failed company. that "little" 50k as i believe you described it, even if he had sold at UCP's peak of 24p (how would one have known to sell there?) would not be a littler 37k

You do live and learn, but everyone has to start somewhere and any tips are useful, as long as you actually look into the company.
I wish I bought NTOG when I was looking at them 2 weeks ago

P.S It is very easy to lose money on the stock market. You only ever hear about the people who have done well
Good luck to you as well. It's the people who short shares I dislike!

The spread will do more than "kill off the takings" on those tiddlers - I would guess that VOG, UCP and TRP would still be showing a loss after spread and comm and stampVOG- Then 6.3p a share, now 6.5p Up 3% ish

I am too busy doing gold binaries.
The spread thing really needs to be taken into account on these tiddlers. MTA is 10% for example - have not looked at the rest. The problem with the net when it comes to investing as I have said before is everyone is Buffet and unsuspecting viewers can get sucked in.

Someone asked for a tip, someone got a tip. I don't consider any profit a "tiddler".
