General questions

1) If money is left to a minor is it the parents of the child who choose how it is invested or the executor?

2) Can anyone in the family ask to look at the will including inlaws?

I'm not very well up on these matters I'm afraid.

You can make this a clause in your will, I would suggest you speak with a solicitor.

Prior to death or after?

After probate a copy of a will can be obtained by anyone if registered within England or Wales.

Once you have decided on your executor and advised them where to locate your will, it will help them and make things easier for all concerned if you write down the following details and put them in a secure place.

Tax and National Insurance affairs
Bank, building society and savings accounts and certificates
Stocks and shares
State and private pensions
State benefits
Car, health, home and life insurance policies
Utility bills
Other unpaid bills
Property deeds
Mortgage payments
Rent payments
Credit card and store card payments
Loan payments and other formal debts

The other one is access to you computer, it's difficult as you don't want to write down all your passwords etc, but it can be a nightmare for those left behind. A small envelope containing these details can be lodged with most banks for a small fee.

Please don't assume..oh it will be ok my wife knows all that, as the most tragic things can and do happen.
