Hi, due to having a few different job last i over paid on my PAYE to the tune of £600, this is money that at this point in time would make my life ALOT easier to live.

Since the start of the new tax year, in order i:

Rang my tax office and they did a calculation over the phone, confirming what i already knew, and asked me to put it in writing.

I put this in writing enclosing copies of all my P60's/P45's and relevant paperwork.

At the start of June i hadnt heard anything so i called, they were having a major upgrade rolleyes and couldnt help at that time, but suggested i send another letter.

So i sent another letter, making the fatal error of enclosing my origionals (I was tired, and realised my mistake the following day)

Towards the end of July i rang again, they had no record of my calls or my letters, and to resend, I explained i had sent my originals, they said they would check on the system and would be able to do it from that.

Phoned mid august, Again no record of me getting in touch, despite me taking a name the last time i rung and been connected to the same person, i got no where, so i asked to speak to someone else. The next person told me i should go about contacting all the agencies and employers i worked for last year, and a couple from the year before to get relevant docs.

2 of the agencies have closed down, and now they are refusing to process the money they have told me they owe me. Is there anything i can do to maybe speed things along or even get them sorted?

Thanks.

Fill in a Self Assessment tax return form for the relevant tax year and submit it. There is no obligation to enclose supporting documentation with a Self Assessment tax return - although the Revenue can ask to see the original paperwork.

The moral of the story is NEVER to send originals to them if at all possible and make a copy of EVERYTHING you send them.

Sounds depressingly familiar from the Inland Revenge. You can console yourself with the 0% interest your £600 is earning whilst you try to get it back. I am still waiting for my £179 from April.
