Hi Guys,

Just a quick question, I was looking into investing some cash into precious metals (particularly platinum and rhodium) It wouldn't be a massive sum of cash by any means, but what is the best and cheapest way of getting into the market?

Cheers,
pss1.

Rh is very cheap right now (at least I assume so as the RhCl3 I use at work is probably 1/3 of the price it was a year or 18 months ago)... I assume the price of Rh metal tracks RhCl3 (or vice versa)

You're probably right there Mike. I used to work for a well known manufacturer of catalysts for vehicle emission control and Rh and Pt are pretty much vital in the products that they make and let's face it, they are going to be in demand and the supply isn't exactly plentiful. I'm just wondering how I could speculate on the market price on a small scale over the next couple of years - I have a share account and wondered if there would be a similar vehicle for these commodities.

BTW you're not a fellow chemist are you? Are you using RhCl3 as a starting material for an organometallic of some sort?

I am a chemist, yeah, I was using Rh a year or so ago but most of my work right now is with Ir. Plenty of people at work are buying Rh for their groups right now as it is so cheap...

Check out Kitco.com for loads of info on precious metals - they have rhodium pools as well as all the other pm's.
