Question for the PH knowledgeable:
I've seen a car I like, It's £4,500.
Can I pay by Cc (my limit's 3x more and it is otherwise unused) and then transfer the balance to another Cc to get a 0% loan (plus the 2-3% transfer fee?)
Will car dealers take this sort of money on a Cc?

Thanks!

Depends on the dealer and the margin in the car. It will cost them in the region of £150 to accept the card.

From memory, Sytner were happy to take a £3000 deposit from me for example smile

I once put 2k on a card as I was a touch short but the garage was more than happy to accept it. They charged me 2% for using it (40 quid) so I suppose it could work quite well if you did a transfer to 0%.

Have you tried asking them?

They will definitely take it if they have the facility, it's a question of whether they will charge you and only the dealer will know the answer.

Thanks guys. Had a word with the garage (main dealer) and they were quite happy. Just got to make the decision to go for it! I'm tight and always find it hard to spend money ;-)

Our group would not take more than 3k on a credit card. The charge isn't a nominal fee, its a % and for mastercard I think it was around 2%. Amex was far higher at nearer 5%
