New to financial spread betting. Would like to ask some questions strategy? Anyone know of any decent financials spread bettign forums?

I have questions on trailing stop losses and locking in profits on a rising trade.

Cheers

www.trade2win.com 's forum. A handful of PHers lurk there as there are less "Oooooh trading's just gambling!" types.

Thanks

Found a dat trading share site, which was useful - gave some interesting jumping off points for some mining and gas shares.

Gutted that I didn't act on a Investors Intelligence report on natural gas - I was going to get in at 3500, hesitated and now waiting for a rebound - but it has pushed on to 400. 500 points in 3 days. utgted to miss that - but there will be others.

thing is, who's to say it'll stop now? I used to get p!ssed off when missing a big hike, but for the last 10 days or so, it's been all one way. Just keeping an eye on it.... don't want to get carried away. I'm sure there's a faal on the way.....just how much I don't know. Could be 100 or 500 off the Dow. crude is going mad again, as is Cable!

Wel,, I'm just going to keep an eye on support/resistance for natural gas. If it head back down from 4000, I'll try and ride the see-saw - it has been going +- 300 points over the last few days. Really could have creamed a simple £1000 just placing limits and stops and letting it ride. Very annoyed that I didn't.

Cheers Ninja

looks like a decent place for this osrt of thing.

Looking for more experienced heads than mine for advice on whether to lock in profit or let the longs ride. Moving my stops to lock in at the moment - but I figure that closing a trade to lock in just costs me the spread if I intend to keep long on the same share anyway.

I think trading/spread betting forums are of limited use personally. It seems to be a mix of people who never lose and are busy moving markets; tons of people who are thinking about doing soemthing but never get around to it and then another load who would be millionares if it wasn't for their evil spread betting company/brokerage etc.

There is some god stuff out there but there's an awful lot of dross and bull to wade through to get to it

I expect so.

My queries relate to some basics - like where the best source of news feeds might be - missed out on Max Petroleum's surge this morning on the back of their rig conract announcement this morning. I assume there is somewhere you can set up an rss feed fpr stocks you are interested in.

That was a normal RNS (regulatory) announcemnet made an hour before the market opened. You could access it from many of the websites out there like advfn etc. I don't think forums would have helped you here - if there are certain stocks that you want to know about news coming out, just check on the web after 7 - you still have an hour till market open.

No idea but if you set up a stockwatch on a site like advfn/yahoo whatever then when you log on if there has been an announcement it should have a flag next to the stock price or just check the price on Google finance and you will see the news - you can also set up a portfolio on here

I use IG index, so I'll check my stocks early for news. I also have them on goole finance portfolio, so I'll double check with that.

I can recommend the following

A few american sites I have found very useful :

freetradingvideos.com - very good daily video commentary on us markets esp S & P 500.
with very good technical analysis. Plus forum
stocktock.com - very good daily commentary with fellow traders again S & P 500 biased
finviz.com - really good stock screening tools.
livewithoscar.com. a very loud active new york trader, again useful videos on Technical analysis.

Sorry I've found no comparable uk based sites. I trade the S&P as you may gather!

hope this helps and good luck.
