Overseas earnings and double taxation
Discussion
A quick question, I am domiciled in the UK (from birth), not Uk tax resident and haven't lived in the Uk for a couple of years.
I will be moving back briefly and bringing money from an EU country that I have paid income tax on (in my tax resident country that has a double taxation agreement with the Uk) - am i still liable for tax on that money when it comes to the Uk, I read something yesterday that indicated I was eek but I'd always thought that I shouldn't be taxed on it twice

At the time you earned that money you were not a UK tax resident so were not liable to UK tax on those earnings.
Bringing that previously earned and taxed money into the UK will NOT result in you being taxed on those earning again.
Obviously, if it going to earn interest whilst you are in the UK that interest WILL be subject to UK tax.
