mods, please leave in here until a suitable response has been provided as it's quite important.

Just went to use my HSBC card, the EPoS beeped and the cashier was advised to phone hsbc.
She eventually got through to our off-shore customer services, who in a broken english said "systems are down so can't help."

I've since tried to use a cash machine, and couldn't check balance as Service Unavailable.
I couldn't draw money out as "exceeded my daily limit." - which is utter rubbish.

Phoned them up and was told "Service unavailable - for business banking press 1."

Everything points to their systems being down, which is very unusual - but I can't find any mention of it via google/ hsbc.co.uk nor in here.

So, could someone with HSBC just ensure they're also unable to use their services.

Cheers

p.s. I know this ought to go into the finances section, but I am needing access to my money asap and so need to know whether it's my card, or hsbc as a whole.

Thanks

HSBC now tell me that it's a server provided by an outsourced company that has failed (failed about 5am)- no back up has been provided and they don't know how long it will take to fix .
In other words -the HSBC CAR - first spec - don't need a spare wheel(wait for a puncture and call out a garage from Delhi) .( They ain't said what elseis missing - suspect next thing will be loads of customers moving elsewhere and withdrawing their money -so stand by for another Northern Rock)

mine fecked up the other day, tried getting money out the bank to pay the garage for fixing my car, and it declined in a couple of cash machines.. I rang the bank and they said I had to change my pin. I asked why, they said either someone had tried to use a cloned card with my details or there had been a system error....

mine worked fine and the OHs got the exceeded daily limit... we st ourselves and thought hers had been cloned again.... finally got through on the mobile to tell me that a server had gone down and that was the standard message, the OH refused to let me talk to them since i had designed their systems and that was one of things i brought up that if the server/network went down it was cause panic phone calls to their help line.

Im now writing up a letter for her wasted time and money in a letter due to the fact they charge her when she is over and i think she should be able to claim the phone call/time back based upon the fact it was unnecessesary panic to us and others.

Glad it wasn't just me, couldn't use the cash point this morning, and card was refused this afternoon.

I just put it down to the new card I was sent, but obviously complete mess up on their part.

Why is it these things happen when you've got no other cards or cash on you.... well annoying!

My mate had trouble with his card today and him and his wife were both paid this week so there was money in the account. We were out for the day and his wife eventually got through to someone who said there was a problem with all HSBC systems.
