Without warning (and well within credit limit) my credit card was stopped yesterday. When I rang to enquire why they said the card had been used at a business where a security breach had taken place and hence my crdit card details could have been taken. A new card and number will be issued in the post. I was irritated that they had stopped the card but not bothered to phone me to warn me (and no letter revceived from them yet). I was keen to know which business it was in case it's a place I use all the time (eg local petrol station) and hence if details of my other cards could also be at risk. They refused to name the business saying that the rules prevented them from doing so.

I all seems a but strange to me. Does anyone reckon they are telling me the truth or is this some sort of smoke and mirrors type b*llst to cover for an error on the part of the credit card company?

Do I have a right to understand where my details may have been taken from?

I remain to be convinced that this has much to do with politics and economics. However thanks for moving the thread.

You have been moved to the '(b)*ankers' forum. The mods get paid £2.50 per move.

So this is why the P&P has been split up? More scope for 'moving'...
