I'm just going through my MiL's files trying to work out her finances (She has dementia) and I've come across a policy taken out in 1984 for Crusader Insurance which is a 25 year joint life (Series A) with profit Endowment assurance.

I cannot work out why she kept this document and I am almost certain it paid out and am fairly sure this was used to pay off their extension, I just want to check that she is not missing out on anything.

I've done a search for Crusader insurance but the company was swallowed up years ago and I have the policy number and the details of the payments but wondered if I could ask a couple of questions:

1) This type of policy would have paid out back in 2009 (We don't have bank records goin back that far) so assume it's been used, but any way to prove that?

2) Any clever websites to trace old policies or Crusader insurance as I could not find a way to do that

Thanks

I used to work for them and I believe any policies are now looked after by Phoenix

That is incorrect.

All Crusaders individual policies are administered by Phoenix. They have never been part of Allied Dunbar.
