Afternoon

Hopefully the correct forum. I'm thinking of switching from Barclays, been with them 20+ years, but feel there's just better options these days with various cashback offers and better savings rates and welcome bonus, as well as perhaps not being charged £5 a month for the blue rewards.

My question, so I have my current account, then have a joint with my wife for bills, and we have the rainy day saver.

If I switch my current, any ideas if the joint is affected? I'm assuming not. The rainy day saver I think, is dependant on me paying the £5 a month blue rewards, so I think I will have to move the savings for that.

Just wonder if its worth it, but likewise, feel whats the point of sticking?

Cheers

I assume your own account and the joint account have separate account numbers. If so, they're not connected with regard to switching.

I switch all the time and have banked over a grand in the last 4 years or so. But, I have a couple "spare" current accounts with direct debits I've picked up over the years and I use these.

My main account with Lloyds I've had for over 40 years. That's not for sentimental reasons, rather for the last few years they've paid a not appalling rate of interest for a current account.

Have you had a look here?

I've looked at these packaged accounts before but found that the addons didn't really work for me so I stuck with Lloyds who I've been with for decades!

Some of the better packaged accounts, provide breakdown cover, gadget insurance etc.

Briefly, but I need to look into further, as I get charged for the better saving account, and the main benefit of Barclays is Apple+ nowadays, which I've no real interest in.

Thanks for the replies.

FWIW it's worth I've been with First Direct for 20+ years. I had a minor query over a statement today - rang up to enquire and the phone was answered on the second ring, not just by a person but by an English person. That's worth something I think. No frills, gimmicks or needing to pay £5 a month to get £4 back, it just works.
