So being the Luddite that I am there seems to have been some recently implemented changes to stop fraud fraudulent online payments

So now after attempting an online payment the system defaults to the bank wanting to ring the landline that I’m nowhere near for a code to be entered, or ring them on a 24hr system that’s exceptionally busy at 4.30am. Fantastic this is going to work well. Rant over.

Has worked Ok for me so far. It is either verification by texting me a code or via the card reader.

Use a mobile phone or verify in banking App

Yup it's a minor irritation only, a quick text or app verification not a call to a landline. For me the extra step that takes c30 seconds is well worth the additional security

Worked fine for me so far.

Not working well for people who haven’t kept their contact details up to date - particularly when switching mobile numbers and dont have access to the old number to enter the code to confirm the switch hehe

OP probably needs to add their mobile number to the banks records. If they only have the land line number, that's all they can use.

Maybe email as well - check that is registered.
