Seeing a bit of hype lately around the upcoming Woodford Equity Income Fund, managed by ex-Invesco performer Neil Woodford. From what I can see it's opening up in June. Anyone thinking of taking a punt?

Yes, was reading about this the other day, tempted to put some money with him given his track record and investment style.

I will be reading it later there will be tens of thousands investing with him it's got to be worth a punt after his track record you don't loose it just because your going it alone.

Have to admit I'm jumping in on this one. He has done well for me in the past (and I should have taken note on his stand on tech stocks back in the day) and HL give you a discount on the charge down to .6% anyways, so why not.

In it for the long term as well. 15ish years or so with my investment strategy.

I chose Woodford over Fundsmith's FEET vehicle. Big mistake.

Mind you, Woodford is doing ok considering the stock market in general.

I was up about 7.3% from my switch on the 25th of June, so I couldn't complain.

Seriously?
You can't blame him for the market collapse.

His High Income fund has been the core of my portfolio since 2001. I kept my old Invesco Perpetual funds to see how the new guy does but sold a poor performing fund and added new cash for his new fund.

Bid price in June 2003 was 103.3p and today it's about 320p.

Going in now at what I guesstimate is a low entry point -

I bought in a while back at around 102 (if i recall correctly). The entry doesn't really matter so much to me now as it'll be a long term accumulator which I hope to build on. The fairly low fee was quite appealing.

He has done really well for me previously so fingers crossed he can continue.

Indeed tempted myself, are you looking at CF Woodford equity income or the UK fund, he has two funds he's managing or do I have my wires crossed?

I believe there is just one fund, CF Woodford Equity Income Fund, but it does come in two varieties . You can choose to take income (Inc), or for better growth you can re-invest the income to accumulate (Acc).

The fund is overcomplicated imho. 4 classes of share with different commission charges.

You can buy the lower commission shares from a few sources. Hargreaves Landsdowne being in iirc.
