Hi all,

I'm just curious what people do with their "medium" term savings? I've got a slush fund and with rates so poor am looking to try increase value of any further savings over a 4ish year time period.

I've already got some money invested in a global Vanguard fund (80/20 shares/bonds) which I view as "long term" so ideally something between cash and that was what I had imagined.

Initial thoughts are a bond fund, but would be interested to hear what others have done.

Thanks!

I'd suggest you need more diversity, alternatives, commodities, property etc.

Where is your equity exposure? Take a glance towards Europe for value at the moment, but get a decent stockpiling fund.

A pure bond fund will be on a hiding when QE end and interest rates start to climb, probably next year.

Thanks.

I'm actually planning on putting some into a commercial property tracker I've found by AAM which lines up nicely with your advice.

My current Vanguard lifestrategy equity fund is global allocated across countries based on market cap. As you say I could tweak it with other funds, but would that be suitable over a 4yr lifespan?
