I just purchased some new upvc windows and doors for the house with anglian, and even tho I have the money to pay in full they insisted that we take the anglian gold account.

They then give me an extra 2k of the price is this legal?

Is there anyway i can just pay this without any fee's?

Sometimes it helps to take out the finance and then pay it off straightaway. All depends on the T&C's of which you can ask for a copy before you sign

Thanks for the reply

they told us to pay a lump 1st month then pay the rest off say $100 2nd month and will be charged a settlement fee of the 2 months interest left on the say £100

Surely the question is, do you want to give business to any company that dictates how you pay, and has dubious sounding procedures in place to get you where they want you?

It's double glazing, there are about eleventy billion other providers out there trying to sell you the stuff.

They are presumably expecting to make more than £2,000 in interest or some other product out of you, what's the terms and rate??

I once went to see a financially naive client who showed me an Anglian quote, it was horrific and they had been strong armed into signing there and then for a big discount, take the finance (with PPI) etc etc. I told them it looked expensive even after all the discounts for 3 windows and a door (£5k from memory, 13 yrs ago). They got freaked out about being ripped off until I reminded them I was there to write their right-to-buy mortgage application, as Council tenants they didn't have the authority to instruct replacement windows.

Letter written, job cancelled. RTB mortgage done, local window firm found, job done for £1500.

Good old yellow pages.

Just look at this thread http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... same thing, big benefits by buying on finance and then paying it off.

Look at all these crappy sofa shops that permanently have a sale, you can pay cash, or you can pay the same amount of 5 years interest free. The cash buyer is a mug!

It does seem increasingly that if you walk in and just want to pay, whether it be sofas or dinner, then you loose. The smart buyer does a bit of research into finance, vouchers etc and very rarely pays the sticker price.
