Don't be intimidated: that's the PPI companies' intentions: frighten you into using them and losing maybe 30% of the claim as fees to them for maybe 30 minutes of their time. The process is really quite straightforward. Get the appropriate forms from the organisation you wish to claim against, fill them in, send them off, and wait to see how things progress.

As above, so easy to do yourself, see here for a starting point: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-...

Could anyone recommend any PPI claim companies that they have used! It seems a bit of a minefield & I'm getting inundated with them & bewildered who to use.
Thanks
Shaun
Who to use? None of them. Go to your Banks etc website, and you will see they have direct contact details of their own PPI Departments, where there is a standard form to fill in and return to them. Thanks
Shaun
Do you actually have PPI?
I got loads of calls and texts for a while and I've never had PPI!
Imagine how baffling some of these calls are, would you really want to trust/pay them to fight your corner?
As the others have said, list any financial institution you have had dealings withs, contact their PPI team directly, they will check it out and let you know. Not worth parting with money for.

Option 1: DIY
> Fill in the FOS PPI questionnaire
> The financial institutions can fully investigate your complaint for mis-sold PPI
> Probably a better chance of the complaint being upheld
> No fee to pay
Option 2: Use a PPI claims management company (CMC)
> They will send a generic template letter to the financial institutions on your behalf
> Less chance of the "complaint" being upheld
> Even if it is upheld the PPI CMC gets a cut
> Fill in the FOS PPI questionnaire

First off do you have, or have you had any PPI, secondly was it arranged inappropriately (if not, don't waste your time)...thirdly follow the advice in the post above and don't line the weasel claim companies pockets with money you are entitled to (assuming you have been actually MIS-SOLD PPI)> Fill in the FOS PPI questionnaire

A friend has banked 16k from PPI reclaims - 100% legit - he has not used any claims companies at all - although he did have all of his paperwork dating back many years.
Spurred on by his success I phoned the LLoyds PPI reclaim number on their website and asked them to check - no forms, 2 phone calls later I was £950 better off. I must be honest and say I chanced it and didn't even realise I had any valid claims - which speaks volumes in itself. - I think I was sold it on the sly perhaps.
I've also got another pending from Egg - who were selling it quite hard at the time of card activation via telephone. - I'll wait and see on that one.
My advice - try it yourself - post results here.

Having previously worked for FOS on ppi cases I can categorically say do not bother with a cmc. They are leaches who piggy back the free Fos service with your details and take a nice chunk of your money at the end. They add absolutely no value. Happy to help anyone with any questions
