Evening, wondering of anyone can help here.
My friend has split from his wife and moved out of the family home leaving the ex and his child.
The house has no equity in it.
He wants to get his own place but needs to get off the deeds/mortgage however his ex can afford the mortgage payments but may not get accepted for a mortgage in her name only.
If this is the case, what are the options, he really needs off the mortgage and deeds.
Thanks in advance.

If she can afford it why would she not get accepted.

He's not going to get off that mortgage unless she can take it on in her own name or the property is sold.

He can still buy a place if his income is sufficient.

Thanks Sarnie, he is not in a high income job so money is tight, in fact he is looking at shared equity properties.
She can afford the payments but has only just started a part time job (approx 20hrs a week) and most of her income is benefits, tax credits, maintenance(3 kids).
