Overtaxed - can I recover now rather than at year end?
Discussion
The wife is employed - she came back from maternity leave in April, working part time, earning £16k a year. She went back on maternity leave for the latest addition as of 1st September, so effectively only did 5 months on full wages. Her tax and NI contributions were low as expected.
In her wages for September she received a one-off payment caused by years of underpayment from the employer. This resulted in an extra £2300 pay. She has been taxed nearly a £1k off this. Obviously her wages will balance out at year end, and she will be due some tax back, however we would like to recover this asap rather than waiting until April. Is this at all possible?

Successful Job Evaluation / Pay & Grading outcome? (I'm guessing she works in a school?)
If she is PAYE it will correct itself over the next few months - you won't need to wait for year end.
