Relative died - owned a large business, no will etc

A relations of mine died a few years ago. We are his legal next of kin (can be prooved). He owned a large garage which was sold around the Liverpool area and stayed in various Mayfair hotels during the 1960s/ 70s. What is the best way of finding out what happened to the business and whether he had any bank accounts that we were unaware of?

If the business was operating through a limited company, then you could search Companies House records for filed accounts and other documentation.

The company was limited but unsuccessful search via companies house online.

Give us the name of the company and I might be able to find something.

How long is it since the business ceased and/or the relative died?

That is probably too long ago now for any records to be retianed at Companies House, assuming the company ceased to exist around then.

Being intestate and all, wouldn't the Treasury have got their mitts on the company assets if no-one came forward to claim? I don't know whether you can get that information from the Treasury Solicitors.

What company.

I was given a bit of extra information by the OP and it seems that the company was wound up over a decade before the individual died.
