HOW BAD ARE NATWEST??? They've somehow cleared a personal cheque of mine at £1,000 over its value. Beneficiary has only seen the correct value of the cheque.
I called to query last Wednesday, 2 days later recieved a letter saying they had tried to call me back. I call back again and they have no record of my case. I then speak to a helpful employee who assures me that she can and will resolve it in the next couple of hours, I soon get a call back saying she has a copy of the cheque and that the issue definitely is Natwests fault, I will have the £1,000 back in my account Monday along with £30 as an apology.
Monday morning rolls round.....I have the £30 but no £1,000.
No sign of the £1,000 in my account today so Ive just called back. About to speak to the third person as no one has an answer for me and I've been on the phone for 35 mins.

I rarely check my accounts as its mostly DD's. I'm shocked that its even possible for a cheque to clear at both end of the transaction for different amounts??

Being messed about?

Don't bother explaining it to the bottom.

Polite short email expressing the issue and how disappointed you are that it's not being resolved. He'll have a department to look into stuff sent to him. They won't be messed around!
