I did a credit check the other day and discovered, to my horror, that there is a CCJ recorded for £5760! I've never defaulted on anything, so can only assume it was from a minor car accident I was in seven years ago (went 50/50 in the end) and the ambulance-chasers put a claim in. A call to the county court confirmed it was a claims-type company, and are sending me the files, which I haven't seen yet.

Some facts, based on the assumption this is in fact to do with the crash:

- The CCJ is recorded for my old, old address, that I lived in at the time of the crash but haven't lived since 2007;
- The date is November of 2011 - so fairly recent considering the crash was in 2005 (can they even claim that late?);
- There was mail forwarding set up from that address for a year after I moved in 2007, though see above;
- I've never seen nor heard anything about this before - and no one has chased for the debt.

So - What to do? I assume my insurance company would have dealt with it at the time, had I received the form. But seeing as I didn't, it's now been recorded as a CCJ. How do I go about clearing this, if that's even possible? A quick Google suggests I may have to apply to have it set aside, though it may still be on my record for six years..
