Evening all, I know I haven't posted on here much but I'm more of a reader than a poster, however I'm hoping the good members of PH may be able to offer a little assistance, please read our story below and hopefully you can help out:

As some of you may have read myself and Si had our joint account "hacked" by some scum on Tuesday.

The short story is somebody has taken out a Wonga loan and Wonga have used our Barclays joint account to take almost £1500 from. Si spotted this on Tuesday 19th before the money had gone from the account, it was showing as pending but not yet in the statement.

So we both contacted Barclays to cancel the cards (which are rarely used so I'm sure it would be fairly easy to trace where we have been done) and get our money back, Wonga were also called and we have been issued a case number. But this is where the problems have started, neither Barclays nor Wonga will do anything until the money hits Wongas account. They both know the transactions (x6 in total, x3 at £1, x3 around £500 each) are fraudulent.

Simon chased Barclays today (Sat 23rd) to be told Barclays have the money in a "holding" account" waiting for Wonga collect, they have up to the 27th to do this otherwise the money is returned to us. Great but why don't both parties just talk to each other and return the money now! This episode has left us at about -£200 in our account with the last payment of the month due to come out next week; £750 for the mortgage, which is going to bounce due to lack of funds (we only have a £500 overdraft).

I tried phoning Wonga today on their Fraud line, held for just over 5 minutes before it went to voicemail to leave a message as they were too busy to take the call! (surely that tells you something), I left a message which promised a call back in under 1 hour, as you would guess we haven't been called back.

So I'm ramping up my publicity of this to try and get them to take note, which is where I hope you can come in. I've posted messages on both their facebook pages and am hoping you can comment on the links as well as sharing them if possible.

Thanks guys, just remember this could have happened to any of you frown

Have you asked Barclays to extend the overdraft given the circumstances ?
It might be worth advising your mortgage provider if you know a payment will fail to be made.

Thanks Crafty, it will be my first job on Monday to call the mortgage company. We were hoping the money was going to be with Wonga yesterday so we could start the process of trying to claim it back but typically nothing has happened.

Surely this can be treated as a disputed transaction rather than a Facebook campaign?

Pretty sure you get the money back straight away.

Its been going on since Tuesday with no resolution. Its not the first time Wonga have been had up for this either.

Surely you should just be chasing Barclays? You are their customer, not Wonga's? It's of no concern to you whether the money has hit Wonga's account or not, why should it be of relevance - it's left your account fraudulently.

Barclays told my other half to contact Wonga. I know its not our concern but trust me if you had £1500 wiped from your account you would do everything to try and get it back.
