I currently hold shares in a regular share dealing account with iii. I understand that you can make £10,200 of profit (actually sitting at a loss atm frown ) before paying CGT.

But I don't hold any in an ISA yet. Is it safe to assume that you can buy shares in an ISA, even if you already hold some of those shares in your regular dealing acct? And them being a separate entity (separate average share price, etc)?

Because of my current sp loss, it's not worth bed and ISA'ing them. That I'll do when I break even or upwards.

Cheers

Yes that's correct.

Always fill your ISA before buying in a normal share dealing account as there is no tax on dividend income either.

Hi

There's no CGT benefit to leaving them outside the ISA. If you transfer them into the ISA now any CG are tax exempt. In addition any dividend income will also be exempt (currently it won't be)
