Quick question - if, after completing your personal self assessment, it transpires that you've overpaid, is there a way to tell if HMRC are going to transfer the money to you or keep it on account?

Depends on what boxes you ticked when completing the return. There were various options available.

Hmmm, that's what I can't remember, although I seem to remember filling in my bank details.

I assume it'll be a while before it'd be in my bank account, had I ticked that option?

I have the same. Did it online on Thu evening, gave them bank details, says payment pending so just waiting for it to land.

You can go back and check it if you did it online.

If you check online and didn't include your bank details, you can amend the return to include them and your refund will follow.
