Hi All,

I worked for a company a few yrs back for just over a year. However, HSBC started sending me letters to a pension I am entitled to when I made NO interest to apply for this pension.

Why would I get these letters?

Thanks

Why not ring them up and ask?

Not sure why you think anyone on hear will have the answer...

Well they are irrelevant now as unless the pension was fully funded by the employer you didn't sign any formal agreement to join it and also made no pension payments then its utterly irrelevant.

However you could call them to clarify as there is zero chance any poster on here would know for sure

I'd guess that the OP was signed up automatically when he joined that employer. Easy to forget signing a bit of paper along with all the other bits of paper you tend to sign when starting a new job.

As others have said, why not just call HSBC and find out?

It could be the fact that it was a non contributory pension so you didn't pay into it but they did.

The simplest thing as the others have said is to call them and find out.

To help other people on here, if you may have had a pension before but can't remember where it is now then you could contact the pension tracing service.
