Hi all,

Like many people I have been contributing to a company pension scheme, I put in 4%, the company matches with 8%. I also have the ability to invest where I like with some very good online tools, therefore I can choose a high risk or low risk fund, depending upon my situation.

As I was in my mid 30's, I decided to invest in some high risk funds, like Fidelity South East Asia and Emerging markets. Clearly these have not been performing very well over the last 3-4 years, but prior to that, they were excellent.. My thinking here (this is where I need advice) is that I will be purchasing these high risk units at a low price. The potential long term view is to stick to buying these and hope for growth over the next 5-10 years or should I be swapping these funds out for something a little lower risk?

Thanks G

Long term Asia looks to be the place to be in many ways. It will have its ups and downs though, as do all assets and economies.

Monthly contributions are not a bad way to get some cost averaging in the equation which will reduce the overall price paid under normal circumstances.

If Fidelity SE is the best fund in the sector or even if you want to pay an active manager to attempt to outperform the index are other questions you should consider though.
