with capital one for approx 10-15yrs. They seem to think i have spent c£4.5k last year but total of c£5.5k. Emailed them and they said its fees/interest related. I pay my bill every month without fail....

So, time to move.

Ideas?

Never had a problem with barclaycard and if you get the platinum card you get cash back on some purchases.

if you pay in full each month i can recommend the Amex Plat Cashback, it was free and stepped to 1.25% back after x amount spent, but i changed mine to the new one which is £25 a year fee but 1.25% cashback on everything spent instead which is working out nicely.. alot more places taking amex these days than used to when i first had one many moons ago, i have my barclaycard for any places that dont take amex but my monthly bills are pretty much 80% on the amex vs my barclaycard

if you opt for vouchers you get an extra 5% as well (on your cashback figure).

however i wouldnt want to miss a repayment in full.. its 17% i think or something silly.

yeah its good. if you dont have a friend with the card PM me and i can recommend you if you want - we'd both get £25 .. so i'd owe you a couple pints at a meet sometime wink

"
Earn 5% Cashback on your first £2,000 of purchases in your first 3 months

1.25% thereafter with no restrictions on how much you earn or how you spend it

Spend over £10,000 in the preceeding year and you'll receive double cashback in the Card's anniversary month, every year

All for just £25 a year
"

> Your friend will receive £25 bonus cashback when they spend on their Card for the first time

So you're basically getting the first years (£25) card charge free. the 5% in the first 3 months is a nice bonus smile .. i think it was 5% cashback in the first month only when i joined, so thats a nicer intro offer.

the only places that dont really take it are small shops (eg newsagents) .. and B&Q !!.. for some reason.
Everywhere else seems to take Amex these days.
My anniversary month is coming up.. had mine just under a year and my cashback currently stands at £171 .. pretty chuffed. just feel stupid i didnt get one years ago.. i put all my supermarket shopping on it, and all my fuel etc. Everytime i top up the car i get half a litre of free fuel ! wink

I have had a Barclaycard for about 20 years and it's been OK. But when you call customer services you speak to someone for whom English is a third or fourth language. It has led to some amusing and at other times frustrating situations.

I recently had to cancel our cards because one of the customer service agents incorrectly told me our cards were being used fraudulently. Turned out it was a car park ticket machine we use regularly and the merchant name was a bit like an online blackjack site.

On the whole though not bad and I've got a £30k limit which I suspect I'd struggle to find elsewhere on a free (or virtually free) card.

I thought Crapital One's call centre was in Nottingham. But then they do struggle with spoken English round here.
