Co-op morgage experience

Just had an offer accepted on a house and now looking for a motgage. We had an agreement in principle with Coop which expired 3 weeks ago - so were just going to proceed with them, but now we are talking to solicitors and they all seem to say the same - avoid coop/britania.

Anyone gone through simple no-chain mortgage with Co-op or Britania in the last few weeks/months ?
What was it like ?

my current mortgage is with the coop. took it out in july 2011, they took a couple of weeks more than I'd have liked to send me the offer but that asides no complaints
