Whirlpool is my latest gamble. Rumour of a bosch takeover. Jumped 20% or so on that news. I waited for a wee pull back so in at $99. Hoping it will do the usual a couple of jumps on increased offers that get refused and then accepted.
Looks promising. I’m in a very little at $102. If a sale doesn’t happen at least it appears to be a good dividend payer.

Nike worth a look as a long-term bet, given the recent slump?

Down 21% this week (biggest one day loss in its history) but has levelled out.

I think the worry will be that niche brands continue to eat their market share.

Nike pulled out of a lot of small/indy sports shops and several department stores and focussed on Direct sales and own stores. This hasn't helped them lately as effectively other brands have filled those channels. Throw the Israel boycott into the mix too and maybe its a bigger problem.

Its the gambling thread, but I am not sure this is a bet I'd take.
