Paperwork signed.
Money is going to my 3 children as house funds / early inheritance.
Makes sense then. No risk to the kids future inheritance that way. Paperwork signed.

I'll be making the call come september i imagine.

And have no savings
Indeed - but as per my previous reply this wasn't really my point. However as the " pot " of people affected by wealth re-distribution is in the scheme of things probably still very modest ( ie people that work or have worked and do have savings ) 99% of others won't care anyway.

We're not in a good position, so we'll see what Labour can do if they get in,
A neat summary of why this country is sleepwalking in to a Labour government which only has 3 policies :1. We're not the Conservatives
2. Private schools are obviously only for rich people, so let's knobble them.
3. See policy 1.

The truth is there is no solution now. It’s controlled decline.
No one has the backbone to risk trying to reignite the fire, and those who do get shot down.
Normal working people with no savings!
So if you are a normal working person with savings what the caveat?
are they going to tax cash ISA's unearned interest , maybe even retrospect years of unearned interest !
say you have no pension your near retirement age and this is your only retirement fund ?
Is it time to cash in ISA's and put money under floorboards or buy a holiday home in Spain or just blow the lot on hookers and drugs so an early death

Bear in mind it won’t just be in one area where Labour will need / want to raise money. So if you are a normal working person with savings what the caveat?

As far as ISA’s are concerned it’s much more likely to introduce a maximum amount you can have ( and yes I would equally imagine some form of grandfathering to apply ) , with then perhaps a reduced amount possible per year.
Council tax probably remains the no 1 option along with all the other things they will no doubt announce in time.

I don't really give much weight to the define a working person routine in the press. Just looks to me like something to trip people up in interviews, bit like asking how much a pint of milk is.
Then I’d politely suggest that you are being rather naive. Everyone should know that politician speak is coded carefully to give them the room to do things without saying they’ve broken a promise.
In this case, it’s clearly telegraphed what might happen. Anyone who isn’t on a minimum wage worker is a target for tax increases.
The money has to come from somewhere and there aren’t enough non doms to cover anything like what they’ll need.
People need to remember this in a few year’s time.
If you want to se what could happen then check out some of the Times Radio YouTube content with Peter Hitchens - I know he’s got an axe to grind but there’s quite a lot of truth in what he’s saying.

Yes that's the nonsense I was talking about. The Labour Party have been using this term “working people” for some years now and it’s blatantly clear that they don’t mean all working people.
It’s not a thing made up by the press. Yes they make up a lot of crap and to mind my mind deliberately act as wind up merchants. But Labour came up with this one on their own.

Angela Rayner said recently: " A working class person is someone who has a job but no savings."
Keir Starmer said recently: " A working class person is someone who has a job but would have trouble writing a cheque should an unexpected bill arrive."
These were not made up media stories.
So, anyone who considers themselves working class and has savings and/or a cheque book is a target for Labour's future plans for tax increases.
Anyone know what the Conservatives' present definition of working class is?

So by labour being evasive on what its real agender is then one can assume anyone with spare capital is fair game, so any ideas where to invest to avoid labours theft, after all we paid tax on your savings, we pay income tax NI (Tax) even the air we breath is taxed (ULEZ) if the Gov, weren't so incompetent with our tax they wouldn't need to tax more. So where would someone send their hard earned wealth to avoid labours theft ?
