There are different theories.

I think they genuinely don't understand that they're scammers, that they believe they're genuine businessmen, and have no clue how things are actually meant to work. (I.e. yes to your question).

Others think they're fully aware that they're scammers.

I had a friend like this, not a scammer, but someone who was firmly on the "too thick to realise how little they know" part of the Dunning Kruger curve when it came to "working on" cars. Had watched enough youtube to be able to repeat an array of car related words, but totally lacked any grasp of actual mechanical happenings.

No longer in contact but through a mutual friend apparently they still to this day bimble along making an absolute horse's arse of whichever poor old car they're currently working on, posting pictures on good old instagram for nobody.

Ignorance is no doubt bliss!

As Mr R Gervais once said:

"When you are dead, you do not know you are dead. It is only painful for others.
The same applies when you are stupid."

I remember spending an enjoyable weekend with a girl who had no idea that her job was as a scammer flogging development plots along the M4.

I suspect many of the people doing paid reviews or brand ambassador work don't realise they're filthy scammers. And I suspect plenty of Insta girls being flown out to Dubai don't even realise they're hookers.

And I've met hundreds of trading system vendors who genuinely believe they can predict the market despite having no wealth and having to sell their trading system for subscription rev.

And while some of these people are genuinely oblivious, others just have a natural moral compass at such a low level that they genuinely don't believe what they're doing is a scam. There are even cultures where knowingly defrauding others is almost seen as a good thing.

There's a guy at an old martials arts club that i still occasionally text to see how he is doing as at one point i thought he might off himself..

He seemed to try and do too much at once with his own business and had to sell his home and take out large loans against families properties etc to stay afloat like he was always chasing the golden goose and believed his own bullst.

Now i heard hes going all in on crypto and i dread to think what the outcome will be.

Hes not completely thick but must just be incredibly naive and gullible. Its quite sad really

You’d have to offer a very short warranty on that to make it worth while at 14k, doesn’t take much to happen to smoke your profit

How much is he buying it for to sell at 14k, or is it a way to get plonkers in on mad finance rates

As dark as is it funny. Love how to he tries to sound robotic and official. "All clients" being a few naive teenagers and a couple of desperate older people. I used to work with a very talented Indian chef who almost fell for one of these. People can be intelligent in some ways, but blinded by their own greed or desperation when it comes to money.

In response to that question last week, of course they realise they're scammers. They know nothing at all about investments of any kind including Forex and couldn't pass a Maths A Level.

I’m pretty sure to be a sofx type you had to loudly claim you flunked your GCSE’s etc

Then a while later, you are really clever

I was entertained at first, then I zoned out.

Why was he away for four years - prison for being a scammer? biglaugh

Did the big trade make him rich or wipe him out? confused

He needs to work on his engagement. My attention span is probably marginally longer than his target audience and if he can't keep me, then...
