anyone mentioned that the santander account reverts to 0.2% after 12 months - you know, once they have caught you and dumped you in the keep net.
But you’re not locked in in any way - there could be better rates way before 12 months is up.

Was why I couldn’t be arsed. And that it’ll be outdone in a few days, especially given the post above yours.
Since it's so easy, you just switch when the time comes to the next good deal (or before then if some other band offers a better deal).

Trouble is that it is due to apathy on my part I left ISAs festering too long after the initial period ended thinking that 'well rates are low, what's the point?', so I'm more aware of that these days and being retired gives me more time to monitor these things and every penny counts too.

Waiting for ISA cash fixes to hit 5%, with low penalties, then I'll lock in what I have.

Stocks are such a mess, the risk of significant drops is huge right now, and add in the currency issues, it makes investing in US stocks painful. Cash fixes in the way to go for the next few years I reckon. What a change that is.
Non-ISA accounts are already at 5% fixed for 5 years. I've not got anything fixed for that long, but it's starting to look tempting......

I keep mine in carrier bags to throw at unsuspecting salesman. It’s the PH director’s way.
I thought everybody leased their cars as their money was invested and earning 30%

All the while moaning about poor people leasing cars they could otherwise not afford?
Indeed. Not sure why anyone with a spare 850k in cash would a) have it in cash instead of capital b) ask advice on a scummy motoring web site.
a) I’m sure there are many reasons - last time for me was after I’d sold two properties and was renting until I managed to buy another property.
B) Because amongst all the noise, there are helpful people and some good advice on PH
Exactly.

These accounts are far too restrictive, absolutely no withdrawals allowed.

As competition builds up, they will start having small 3-6 month interest penalties, which is worth waiting for. Things happen, I wouldn't want to keep £100k locked away for such a long period. What if I wake up one day with a mid life crisis and need to buy a Porsche 911?

Seen this earlier on for anyone wanting fixed savings 6months to 5yrs.

https://www.atombank.co.uk/fixed-saver/

Rates seem very good. 3.2% for 6 months, 4.25% for 1yr.

Those are fixed term products. Apples and oranges.

Opened one last night. Immediately got an e-mail saying thanks for my application and they'd be back to me in 3 working days, switched back to the Santander app (already a customer) and the account was already there!

I'm no longer keen on fixed term deals having locked £80K into Investec for one year last February at 1.4%.

Things are too volatile at the moment. You need to be nimble on your feet.

For reference, not an existing Santander customer.

Filled out the application (joint) and have had a confirmation email that the account is open within a minute of the application being completed!

One thing though, there's not reference to the 'limited edition' in the email confirmations, only esaver, though I definitely applied via the limited edition link on their site.

Same for everyone else (as I note that the regular esaver doesn't allow larger single deposits)?

Got an email this morning saying mine is open and ready to use, after filling in online yesterday morning. Existing customer, but with dormant accounts (my Late Dad's LPOA).

Looks like Cynergy Bank have already matched off.
Assuming I can’t get the Santander account for whatever reason, are these people any good? If I’m honest I’ve never heard of Cynergy Bank.

I assume they’re FSCS registered (I’ll be putting in close to the limit)?

Agreed, I locked into the Coventry Loyalty Bond at 3% a while back. Nearest similar thing is now 4.70%

Is anyone getting a "technical error' message when attempting to submit a Santander application? Phone lines are busy as well.

I have just got off the phone with Santander. When I said I wasn’t an existing customer she immediately asked me if I was calling about the E-saver account. Apparently they have much higher than expected application volumes, so it’s taking longer to approve than they anticipated.

My Mrs tried to open one (existing customer) but was getting an error message saying you 'you have to be a UK resident' which she is.

By time she gets around to calling them it might be full subscribed!

I thought I was good to go, so logged on to find that I have no account...read further down the email (after all the bit about welcome and how to put money in) then saw that some detail didn't match what they had down on my records, so I've had to fill in a 'change of detail' form. I think it was fat fingers on my part as they have a letter missing from my middle name. rolleyes

At least I've got an account, it just might take a week or so to get access, but not too bothered: I mainly want to use it just to transfer some money from my late Dad's estate across while I work out what's best to do with it longer term.

It didn't say it in mine either and the account is just called 'esaver' when I log in, but the product name shows as: 'ESAVER LIMITED EDITION (ISSUE 1) MONTHLY'.
