The DM comes out with plenty of dross, but this one, Feckless father with children by eight women fakes death to avoid paying support to ninth baby on the way... and then claims: 'I get so much hassle', is a magic mix of pissboiling and comedy gold!

I think you are too quick to condemn him.

Considering all of the evidence, I think there is a strong possibility that he is, and indeed has been for some time, brain dead.
