if the case details are in the public domain there is nothing she can do to prevent it from being printed in the media - unless a judge has imposed reporting restrictions

Shouldn't she be more upset about being dead or am I misreading your post?

This is the case. Unless the victim is at risk (not just physically), a court is unlikely to impose a restriction.

It is an area of the court system that can have positive and negative effects. The media are not known for their heartfelt handling of reporting, but they are simply doing a service by reporting the results of proceedings.

It is much the same as the right of a person to attend a court to hear proceedings. Unless certain elements of a case are deemed to be of such sensative nature, they are held in open court.

If she had been raped or the victim of a sexual assault then the papers wouldn't have been allowed to name her or him

Unless her counsel asked for reporting restrictions, then the press are free to print the information (within reason) once the case has been concluded. Court proceedings are after all public so that justice can be seen to be done.
