I knew it was bad, but has it really come to this?

'May cause drowsiness' too confusing for modern medicine labels
Has the level of education in this country really sunk so low that people are genuinely incapable of understanding what 'drowsy' means? Do people really not understand words of more than one syllable any more?
I have just finished reading "Bad Science' by Ben Goldacre in which he states that people are intelligent and that they understand things if explained to them. Based on what I read in that article, I have to disagree with him. I am not sure that we aren't witnessing the "de-evolution" of our species.

That statement sounds alarmist, but I do honestly think there is a danger that it is already devolving. There are sub-cultures of thick and un-healthy families, not just sheltered by propagated by our welfare system, that are on an entirely 'other' trajectory to the evolution of more sentient contemporaries.
Where do we keep these morons? How simple to we have to make things before the uneducated f
kwits can understand it?
Sounds to me like people are just too lazy to think of the meaning and play ignorant. I refuse to believe that some people are that f
king stupid that they can't understand what drowsiness means.
EFA What an absolute joke.

"This phrase will now be replaced by the instruction: 'do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine', which is far clearer."
Not realy, does that mean I should put my glass down whilst taking the medcine

"The research was carried out by Professor Theo Raynor, and colleagues at the University of Leeds." who obviously have far too much time on their hands & a budget far in excess of their usefullness.

We've had this discussion before. With pedant mode firmly on, natural selection says nothing about improving intelligence or the like. It merely states "those best suited to survive in the environment will be more likely to pass those genes on".I'd suggest the individuals under discussion are almost ideally suited to wearing cheap tracksuits, watching "celebrity come trisha on ice in the jungle" and being given free money for breeding.
Indeed, one might make the point that a number are over burdened with intelligence for this task.

Warning labels on medicines should be simplified because words such as "avoid" are too confusing
Likewise, the phrase "take at regular intervals" caused indecision among modern takers.
The report recommends the labels should now read "space the doses evenly throughout the day"

I am truely horrified by modern society.
+1 on the Cull, or at the very least sterilization!

I agree with a cull, let's get some chlorine in the gene pool.
Darwinism is getting some of them...
