Strangers gallery, whatever.

Can anyone tell me what it's like to visit? Length of queue, security, that kind of thing.

Take photo ID, get there an hour before ideally and don't go for PMQ and you should get in fine. Or call your local MP and tell them to arrange tickets on pretty much whatever day you like - again except PMQ which can take some time.

On my few visits I've been surprised how small it seemed.

I've been to the House of Lords gallery. You have to go through a metal detector to get into the Houses of Parliament. Once inside we queued for 45 minutes, alongside mainly American tourists. When it was our turn to go in our phones and cameras were confiscated and put in a locker. Our names and addresses were then noted down, before being asked to take a seat and be quiet. No time limit, you can stay in the gallery all day if you wanted to. I'd imagine it's pretty much the same routine for the House of Commons.

Did they install a safety screen after Tony Blair was attacked with paint? I know they were talking about it.

Would be a shame really as it would separate you from (our) working politicians.

Also, just out of interest. Now that the Labour Party has gone from Government has all the security been relaxed?
It just seemed that they were so paranoid about everyone and everything.

Security there very tight. If you get a ticket from an MP you don't have to queue for as long I think. Same for the Lords but not as certain as I just went into the Lords when I was in the House for a work thing.

I went today and got to see statement from the PM and HS.

glass screen is a shame you just don't get the atmosphere and it felt disappointing to be cut off from your representatives.

worth a visit none the less
