A teenage girl has spoken of her ordeal at the hands of a knife-wielding gang.
The Plympton girl was walking her dogs when she was grabbed by a hoodie-wearing gang who cut up her face.
Rebecca Wills said she was walking down a lane next to the George Pub in Plympton between 4pm and 4.30pm last Wednesday.
The gang blocked her way. One of them caught hold of Alfie, her Hungarian wire-haired vizsla, pulled out a knife and said: "If you scream I'll stab the dog."
Rebecca, 16, told The Herald: "I couldn't see their faces – only their eyes."
One of the gang held her by the arm, while another "pulled out what looked like a scalpel with another blade attached".
Rebecca said she just "closed her eyes and shut down", while her dogs cowered behind her.
"They cut my chin first, slowly. That was the most painful," she said. "After that I didn't feel so much pain."
The gang made 41 double cuts to her face over the space of about a minute, before releasing Rebecca. She turned and ran home where she called the police.
She said the cuts were superficial and her doctor believed they would not leave any scars.
Rebecca said she would still walk her dogs but would now keep to more open, public places.
She did not believe she had been deliberately targeted, but thought the gang was just waiting for someone to walk past.
Her mother, Pauline, said Rebecca was still in shock.
She said the attack was chilling because it was so cold-blooded. "There was absolutely no motive."
Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
Rebecca said the attacker who threatened to stab Alfie was definitely male, but she was unsure of the sex of the other two.
The one who cut Rebecca's face was wearing a grey hooded top with turquoise markings and is approximately 5ft 8ins tall.
The second wore a grey hooded top with diagonal stripes and is about 5ft tall and of slim build.
The third suspect also wore a grey hooded top and tracksuit trousers and is around 5ft 5ins tall.
"The area is often used by dog walkers and police are keen to hear from anyone who saw the suspects in the area around the time of the incident," said a police spokesman.
The assault took place between 4pm and 4.30pm on Wednesday February 9 and anyone with information is asked to call police on 08452 777444 quoting reference EP/11/107.
What kind of utterly twisted bunch of
would do something like this? What on earth is wrong with people?

This is what happens when there aren't adequate deterrents to anti-social behaviour.

My Brother used to live in Plympton, I thought it was a nice area.
I hope a certain few chaps who train on the edge of Dartmoor nearby decide to sort this out, properly. I can't see how you can rehabilitate the

Absolute cowardice. Really.
I don't know that dog breed, but if she had had an alsatian / rottweiler etc I'm sure they would have thought twice.
Likewise, I'm sure they'd never get that brave down Union Street in Plymouth.
